2016 Chalet Place Christmas Light-up for Charity

An industrious North Vancouver family has been busy stringing together thousands of Christmas lights in preparation for another amazing Christmas light display to benefit local charities.

This year’s light display, tentative light-up date to welcome viewers and visitors is November 28, 2016 at 4967 Chalet Place, in North Vancouver. Regular viewing hours are from 5:30 pm – 11:00 pm nightly through to January 6, 2017.

The Ribalkin family believes strongly in giving back to the community and has ensured that all of the display costs are covered so every penny or can of food collected can be donated directly to local charities. This year’s cash charities will be the Gizeh Shrine Transportation Fund and the BC Epilepsy Society. Food donations will be benefitting a North Shore charity called Harvest Project. Since the initial Chalet Place Light-up in 2010, a total of $46,777 has been collected in cash donations and 587 bags of groceries.

The Gizeh Shrine Transportation Fund pays the transportation costs for BC and Yukon children to go to Shriners Hospitals for Children so they can receive specialized medical treatment. During 2016, the fund paid transportation costs for approximately 180 children. The BC Epilepsy Society is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides education, advocacy and support for British Columbians living with epilepsy, and their families. Harvest Project is a community-based urban relief organization, to help people who are experiencing challenging life circumstances by providing physical, emotional and spiritual support that empowers them to take positive steps in their lives.
